Vancouver Resident Named Top UniFirst Representative in North America

Ulises from the Portland, Oregon location wins Aldo Croatti Award
Ulises Ruiz, UniFirst - Portland, Oregon

Portland, Ore. - It is the most coveted of all UniFirst Corporation recognitions. And out of the thousands of UniFirst route sales representatives (RSRs) in the U.S and Canada, Vancouver resident Ulises Ruiz is one of only ten who have earned this distinction for 2014. Named after UniFirst's founder, the Aldo Croatti Award is presented to those RSRs who exemplify unparalleled customer service and satisfaction while retaining 100% of their customers for an entire fiscal year.

Ruiz, who works for UniFirst at its Portland location, delivers work uniforms and facility service products to 86 businesses on a weekly basis throughout the greater Portland area. He has been with UniFirst for 10 years.

Headquartered in Wilmington, Mass., UniFirst Corporation (NYSE: UNF) is a leading provider of customized work uniform programs, corporate attire, and facility service products to businesses throughout the U.S. and Canada. Together with its subsidiaries, UniFirst also provides first aid and safety products, and manages protective garment programs for the cleanroom and nuclear industries.

"Every once in a while an employee comes along that has outstanding potential—not only do they represent themselves well, but they represent UniFirst well in everything they do," says UniFirst general manager David Hardy. "Ulises is that kind of team partner. He is acutely aware of the needs of his customers and has a unique way of building relationships with them. Today we celebrate him and his outstanding achievement."

Ruiz attributed winning the award to teamwork. "Everyone at UniFirst, working together, helps us to be successful. I know that I would not have earned this award without all of the hard work and effort from the people in every department." He added, "I always remember the quote 'Think like a customer and act like an owner' and let that guide my actions each day."

Ruiz resides in Vancouver with his wife Robyn, daughter Reyna (age 9) and son Ulises Jr. (age 7), with whom he enjoys spending quality time. "I am thankful for my job, for UniFirst, and especially for my family whose love and support keeps me going each day," he said.

As part of his award, Ruiz will receive an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the Four Seasons Resort in Maui, Hawaii, in December, where he will be personally recognized by UniFirst president and CEO Ron Croatti and other company executives.
